The theme of the conference is “Understanding the Invisible: Physiology as the Key to Hidden Mechanisms in Health,” exploring how physiological principles traverse all medical specialties, revealing the intricacies of the human body and guiding clinical decision-making and innovation.
The conference will feature a range of engaging activities, including talks from leading experts in physiology and medicine. Speakers already confirmed include Professor James Clark, who will explore cardiovascular physiology under extreme conditions in Scuba Diving and the Cardiovascular System, and Mr. Paul Drake, whose talk Physiology in Flames: Enhancing Outcomes in Burns Surgery will highlight the role of physiological principles in surgical care. Additional speakers include Dr. Oli Steele, with his talk Beyond Anesthesia: Ketamine and NMDA Receptors in Neurodegeneration Research.
Our exciting keynote speaker is going to be announced over the coming weeks, and really is a highlight to eagerly anticipate.
The day will also feature interactive breakout sessions, offering attendees practical, hands-on experiences led by experts that delve into the diverse applications of physiology in medicine and human health. The conference will conclude with a thought-provoking panel discussion and Q&A, where leading clinicians and researchers will share insights into the evolving role of physiology in shaping the future of healthcare.
One of the key highlights of the conference is the Student Poster Presentation Session, providing attendees with a unique opportunity to showcase their research and engage with peers, clinicians, and academics. This segment aims to celebrate and promote the innovative work of medical students and early-career researchers, fostering discussion and collaboration on diverse physiological and medical topics. Presentations will take place during the lunch break, where attendees can interact with the presenters and explore the breadth of their work.
A panel of judges will evaluate the posters, and certificates will be awarded for the Best Poster Presentation and Runner-Up, recognising excellence and innovation. Due to limited space, we are accepting a maximum of 25 posters, and we encourage interested participants to apply early.
