Mentoring opportunity: Widening Access to Careers in Community Healthcare (WATCCH) 2025

Calling all medical students!

  • Would you like to improve your teaching and mentoring skills?

WATCCH (Widening Access to Careers and Community and Healthcare) is an initiative aimed at Year 12 students from underrepresented backgrounds across London who are considering a career in healthcare.

The programme provides participants with:

  • Mentoring from an Imperial medical student
  • Work experience in primary care
  • Workshops on a range of healthcare careers and admissions

What does being a mentor involve?

  • Receiving mentor and safeguarding training
  • Develop teamwork and communication skills
  • Attend and facilitate 3 workshops on:
  • Saturday 5 July 2025 (to be confirmed)
  • Wednesday 30 July 2025 (to be confirmed)
  • Saturday 20 September 2025 (to be confirmed)
  • Mentor WATCCH participants via an online platform (Brightside)
  • Receive a certificate and badge on completion of the programme
  • Outside of workshops time commitment for a mentor is roughly 1 hour/week

  • WATCCH Mentor committee Lead
  • Workshop 1 Co-ordinator
  • Workshop 2 Co-ordinator

  • Work Experience Project & Mentoring Lead

Being part of the WATCCH mentor committee will:

  • Improve your leadership skills
  • Contribute to the development & design of the WATCCH programme
  • Work in partnership with the WATCCH faculty team
  • Receive a certificate recognising your contribution to the committee and a badge
  • Take part in scholarship opportunities related to WATCCH (conferences, presentations, workshops)
