LGBTQ+ Experience Survey

Supporting our LGBTQ+ community

Our work includes maintaining a local commitment to the Stonewall Charter. This charter focuses on improving LGBTQ+ equality and inclusion across Imperial. As part of our commitment to this, we are conducting a survey and focus group to better understand the challenges LGBTQ+ students face in the School of Medicine.

We will use your contributions to support and influence change, and to help us make the improvements you need in both your learning environment and in your student experience overall. Your participation is critical in helping us understand where we can do better, where we can adjust to ensure equal opportunities for every student, and in making sure that our medical school and the wider university community continues to improve as a welcoming, supportive and inclusive environment. Every response will be extremely valuable, and we are grateful for your input.

How you can participate

  • Survey: You can complete our anonymous LGBTQ+ Survey here.

The survey will remain open for two weeks, and will close at the end of the day on Wednesday 22 January. At the end of the survey, you can provide your email address via a separate sign-up form if you’re interested in joining a focus group.
  • Focus group: If you are interested in contributing further to this project, please provide your email in the separate sign-up form linked at the end of the survey. Your email address will be stored separately to any survey responses you have provided. We will then contact you with more details about how to join a focus group where you can share more about your experiences.

Privacy notice

Your participation is completely voluntary. While responses are anonymous, if your responses provide any personal information, this will be kept confidential and only shared with our immediate project team: Dr Channa Jayasena, Dr Christopher-James Harvey, Dr Nariell Morrison, EDI Fellow, and Dr Rowena Wang, EDI Project Coordinator. If you provide your email to join the focus group, it will be handled and stored separately from your survey responses. Any information shared in the focus group will also be anonymised. We follow all General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) guidance and Imperial College London policies to protect your data.

Every response will be extremely valuable, and we are grateful for your input. Your participation will help make real change to improve equality and inclusivity in the School of Medicine. If you have any questions, please contact EDI Project Coordinator, Dr Rowena Wang.
